2002 Pictures of the week
An Update on JackWhat's Jack been up to lately? Jack has had a wonderful show career. At eight months he won a Non-Sporting Group I from the 6-9 Puppy class (top picture), and at nine months his first major (middle picture). A year ago this week, at Castlegar, British Columbia, he beat his father Woody for four Best of Breeds, a Group IV, and Best Puppy in Show (bottom picture). By the end of the summer, he was just a major short of finishing in the States and had 7 of the 10 points needed in Canada. Jack's show career came to an abrupt end last November when he was diagnosed with juvenile cataracts, a genetic condition that is not talked about much among French Bulldog breeders. By early January, the juvenile cataracts were progressing rapidly, and Jack was nearly blind. We had his lenses replaced with synthetic lenses, and he's doing great! Needless to say, we will not be breeding Jack or his parents again. We will be returning to Castlegar next weekend with our new puppy, Phoenix, who's from an entirely different line. Go, Phoenix! |
Phoenix made her second appearance in the Non-Sporting group
ring this weekend at the Hurricane Ridge Kennel Club show in
Sequim, Washington. Phoenix showed well. She's learned not to fuss when the judge goes over her, and self-stacks for her new favorite bait, beef heart! No group placement, but a respectable showing for a nine month old puppy!
